"knowledge is like a river, too full and wide and vast for man to drink in a thousand thousand lifetimes. So we have the well of words, filtered through the earth of tongues, from the river, and we can fill our cups and be satisfied-- for a time." Taylor Caldwell - Bright Flows The River

I am so glad to see her books back in print and I have almost all of her books in hardback though it has taken a while to get as some have been out of print for years. One thing I appreciate about her writing is the way she is descriptive in painting the scenery with her chosen words, describing the walls in the room, the feel of the air in the room, the lingering fragrance in scene and every little detail which in turn transports you right there where you are living the experience in her novels. Artistry runs strong in your family bloodline as her father, your great grandfather, was an illustrator as well as your sister being an artist.
Following on my last post, I live in Prague and can see a great audience here for her books in Czech (as as in other places in the local language.) This is something that, as a descendent of TC, I am actively pushing to make happen. English is a popular language, but there are others out there with huge book readerships. So I'm hopeful.
And not just the well of words, but the diversity (or babel) of languages, through which meaning is filtered, adapted, and inevitably changed to suit it's speakers (or readers) own world view.
